Gojoseon became the first political state to be recognized in the first half of the 1st millennium BCE. The northern part of the peninsula was occupied for a period by the Balhae Kingdom which historians do not consider to be a genuine Korean state.

Among them, Baekje was the most powerful state however, its dynasty ended by the fall of Goguryeo in 676 CE leaving the southern provinces of Manchuria and the western region surrounding the Hwanghae Bay, while eastern Buyeo and the Gaya confederacy prospered for a period of time.

The Unified Silla Kingdom then emerged and the three kingdoms began to cooperate to expand their territories. In the end, Silla, with significant Chinese aid, conquered all other states and united the peninsula in 935 CE.

As Korea enters the post-crisis era the development paradigm of the country is in flux. People who are shocked by the enormous cost of the old systems are in favor of a comprehensive plan for liberalization of labor, capital and product markets. On the other hand the supporters of the old system try to protect it by promoting nationalist sentiments, as well as by stoking fears of job loss.

The academic and policy analysts remain starkly divided as to the extent to which these two developments are driving Koreas shift towards an economic model that is radically different from the one of governance. This article analyzes the five phases of the Korean evolution in terms of its political development that include democratically illiberal democracies (1945-60) democratic autoritarianism (1961-72) authoritarian exceptionalism (1972-1877) democratic paternalism (2001-2002) and participatory democracy (2002). Henry Morris and Duane Giss of ICR were the keynote speakers. This event attracted a huge number of professors, church leaders and scientists.

The success of the event led to the creation of the Korea Association of Creation Research on January 31, 1980. The inauguration meeting was widely covered in national newspapers, including The Korea Times and Chosun Ilbo and was well-received by the public.

KACR began publishing a newsletter titled CREATION. In it, the group presented its own work and published articles on scientific evidence for the existence of God. It also translated several slides and film strips from ICR and also several books on creationism that were in print outside of Korea. A KACR success was witnessed at KAIST University in Seoul. Students at the KAIST university in Seoul were so fascinated by creationism that they raised money and secured funding to build a small creationist museum on campus.

In addition to its work, KACR has published a bimonthly publication called CREATION. The magazine covers subjects in the field of creation science. In addition, Wang Geon introduced fundamental reforms and strengthened a central ruling system. This marked the conclusion of the Three Kingdoms period. The Korean peninsula was then ruled by the Goryeo Dynasty. During the Three Kingdoms period, Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla gradually developed into powerful states in Manchuria and on the peninsula.
